Dining Services to offer halal meals during Ramadan beginning March 1

In observance of Ramadan, WVU Dining Services will sell to-go halal meals and breakfast boxes at select convenience locations before and after spring recess.

From March 1-14, students can find ready-made halal options at the Mountainlair Grab & GoLyon’s Den and Market @ UPlace

After spring recess, they will be available again from March 23-29.

Halal meal options include:

  • Butter Chicken
  • Chicken Tikka Masala
  • Chicken Biryani
  • Paneer Tikka Masala
  • Chana Masala
Halal meals will be kept frozen and can be easily warmed in a microwave. They will come with a side garden salad and a date.

Breakfast boxes will be available in the refrigerated section and will include two hard-boiled eggs, two pieces of fruit, Greek yogurt, whole grain bagel with cream cheese, nuts, dates and non-dairy milk.

Students with Go 10, Go 13 and Go Anytime dining plans who previously expressed interest in Ramadan offerings can use their meal swipes to purchase halal meals and breakfast boxes.

Others can buy them for $9.75 using cash or card. In addition to the convenience locations, several campus dining locations will remain open after sundown:

Most dining locations will be closed during spring recess (March 15–23) and will resume normal hours on Monday, March 24. For questions, contact WVU Dining Services at dining@mail.wvu.edu or 304-293-9999.
