Campus steam outages planned

To accommodate annual enhancements, repairs and testing to the University's steam infrastructure, the Facilities Management team is working with WVU’s steam provider on the following three planned steam outages.

  • Evansdale — 6 a.m. May 19 through 6 a.m. May 25

  • Health Sciences — 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 23.  

  • Downtown — 6 a.m. May 25 through 6 a.m. June 9.

Evansdale Steam Outage (May 19-25)

All steam across the Evansdale campus will be shut down during the outage. Heating, domestic hot water and lab steam will be affected at the following campus buildings:

·   Agricultural Sciences

·   Allen Hall

·   Canady Creative Arts Center

·   Engineering Research Building

·   Engineering Sciences

·   Evansdale Greenhouse

·   Evansdale Library

·   Mineral Resources Building

·   National Research Center for Coal and Energy

·   Percival Hall

·   Student Recreation Center

Heating and domestic hot water also will be affected in the following residence halls:

·   Bennett Tower

·   Braxton Tower

·   Brooke Tower

·   Lyon Tower

 

Downtown Steam Outage (May 25-June 9)

All steam across the Downtown campus will be shut down during the outage. Heating, domestic hot water and lab steam will be affected at the following campus buildings:

·   Armstrong Hall

·   Brooks Hall

·   Chemistry Research Laboratory

·   Chitwood Hall

·   Clark Hall

·   Colson Hall

·   Downtown Campus Library

·   Eiesland Hall

·   Elizabeth Moore Hall

·   Hodges Hall

·   Martin Hall

·   Mountainlair

·   Oglebay Hall

·   Purinton House

·   Reynolds Hall

·   Stewart Hall

·   White Hall

·   Woodburn Hall

Heating and domestic hot water also will be affected in the following residence halls:

·   Boreman Hall (North and South)

·   Dadisman Hall

·   Stalnaker Hall


Air conditioning is not expected to be impacted during the outages. However, the Facilities team will continually monitor temperatures in campus buildings and residence halls and make any necessary adjustments.

Researchers should consider delaying any new research projects that could be impacted by these outages if at all possible.

We appreciate your patience as we work to complete this critical work at a time that will have the least impact on our faculty, staff and students.
