One-of-a-kind artwork will be available for purchase at the WVU Clay Club Ceramics Sale on May 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Douglas O. Blaney Lobby of the Canady Creative Arts Center.
The sale will consist of around 1,000 handmade utilitarian pottery and small ceramic sculptures, created by WVU School of Art and Design students. Along with allowing customers to purchase decor and gifts, the pottery sale supports student artists by dedicating all proceeds to individual and group opportunities.“Funds for the Clay Club help in bringing visiting artists and supporting club activities,” said Robert “Boomer” Moore, associate professor of ceramics and faculty advisor for the club. “Proceeds towards individual students help fund student research projects, including travel to China this June with the WVU Ceramics in China Study Abroad Program. It is an excellent opportunity to help support young student artists.”
The WVU Clay Club is a student organization that fosters relationships between student ceramicists and the professional workforce, providing vital educational and professional experiences. For more information on the School of Art and Design and its opportunities, visit artanddesign.wvu.edu.
