Carruth Center closes physical space; all services move to alternate delivery

The Carruth Center, which provides psychological and psychiatric services to West Virginia University students, has closed its physical office until further notice. Services will continue to be provided through telehealth and other online methods. The crisis/emergency response team will also continue.

“Most of our clinicians are already working remotely and with the governor’s stay-at-home order on Monday, plus the continued spread of COVID-19, this is the responsible thing to do,” Clinical Director T. Anne Hawkins, said.

More information, including how to connect with the Center staff, is available on the website.

If immediate assistance is needed, the Crisis Text Line is available by texting WVU to 741741 to reach a live, trained counselor. It is free, confidential, and 24/7.

Also, access to Morneau Shepell, a counseling service for online students, has been expanded to all WVU students. It can be accessed three different ways: download the free My SSP app from the App Store or Google Play); call 1.866.743.7732 from North America, 001.416.380.6578 outside North America; or visit  https://us.myissp.com and select West Virginia University.
