Students: You may be working in two versions of eCampus over next several semesters

WVU has begun a multi-semester transition to eCampus Ultra, the newest version of the Blackboard/Anthology platform, but will continue using eCampus Original until all courses have been rebuilt in the new system. This dual-platform approach means that students on all campuses could be working in both eCampus Original and eCampus Ultra.

Select courses in fully online programs are scheduled to be rebuilt in the new platform first, launching in Fall 2024. Once that project is successfully completed, a comprehensive rollout plan for all courses will be developed.

eCampus Ultra is mobile-ready, so it adjusts automatically to fit any computer, tablet or smartphone screen. It also features progress-tracking tools that will let you see your course deadlines and mark your tasks complete. You may also notice that announcements appear as pop-ups when entering a course, making it harder to miss critical information. New Test Question Filters let you look at all questions of a single type or see only unanswered questions.

A small group of faculty members piloted eCampus Ultra during Summer 2023, and early adopters have been using it since the fall semester. For Spring 2024, 30 faculty members are using Ultra to teach 43 courses.

Student feedback has been largely positive, particularly about the more modern interface. Students also noted that Discussion posts were saved automatically, that it was easier to upload assignments, and that the system offers the chance to confirm you’re submitting the correct assignment before doing so.
