WVU to welcome new banking vendor in 2026; PNC Mountainlair location to close end of semester
September 8, 2025
To continue the services that WVU provides to its campus community, WVU will welcome a new consumer banking services provider to campus in 2026.
As part of this transition, the University’s current partnership with PNC will end on Dec. 31.
We look forward to sharing more information with you on our new banking provider as soon as possible.
PNC’s WVU branch, which is located in the Mountainlair, will close on Dec. 5. To ensure limited disruption in banking services during this transition, PNC will continue to serve WVU students and employees in an alternative space in the Mountainlair through the end of 2025.
The University will provide updates on the timeline, including when PNC will begin removing its ATMs from campus, which will be replaced by the new partner. Please note that during this period, some machines may remain physically on site but could be inoperable or unavailable for cash withdrawals.
Following the branch closure, students and employees can continue to utilize PNC’s banking services at its Suncrest Town Centre branch along with all PNC ATMs which can be found at PNC Locator. In addition, PNC customers will retain any benefits and perks acquired under WVU’s partnership with PNC, and customers who use a WVU-branded debit card can continue to use it until it expires. Upon expiration, a standard PNC debit card will be issued. There will be no other changes to PNC customers’ accounts.
For questions related to PNC banking services, please contact the PNC customer service team online.
For WVU banking questions, please contact scm@mail.wvu.edu.
Thank you for your understanding throughout this transition. We are excited to share more details on our new banking vendor this winter.
