WVU Planetarium releases semester schedule of free shows
August 25, 2025
It’s a new year, and a new opportunity to connect in the dome.
The WVU Planetarium and Observatory serves as a window to explore astronomical wonders, right here on the WVU downtown campus in Morgantown.
The Planetarium features professionally curated shows in the dome, every other Friday, all free and open to the public. Shows feature topics like supermassive black holes, stars, space exploration, gravitational waves, indigenous culture connections to astronomy and more. There are usually special events like mediation sessions in the dome and shows in Spanish that get added to the schedule, so be sure to bookmark the website for updates.
Gather your friends, grab dinner downtown then head to White Hall on campus, take the elevator to PL to the dome, and get lost in the cosmos.
After each show, all attendees are invited to head to the rooftop telescope and view the night sky with an astronomer (weather permitting). It’s the perfect way to wind down after a busy week.
All shows are free, but reservations are required as seating is limited.
See you in the dome!
