In-person classes on the West Virginia University Morgantown Campus will start later Thursday (Jan. 15) due to forecasted cold and icy conditions.

In-person classes will start at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. All in-person classes scheduled to begin before 9:30 a.m. are canceled. Online classes will continue as scheduled.

The delayed start will not affect campus operations.

Employees who work remotely or on hybrid schedules are not affected and should continue their normal schedules. Hybrid employees typically scheduled to work on-site should coordinate with their supervisors to work remotely during the closure. On-site employees should communicate with their supervisors to determine if they are required to work on-site during the late start.

WVU Health Sciences faculty, staff and students who work in patient care areas or in clinical rotations should check with their dean, program director or clinic manager.

WVU Facilities Management Roads and Grounds crews will work to clear and treat campus roads, parking lots, sidewalks, stairs and other areas.

Students and visitors are encouraged to call ahead to verify operational hours.

University officials are continuing to closely monitor reports from the National Weather Service, as well as state, local and campus conditions.

Social media accounts such as @WVUsafety on X, @wvusafetyofficial on Instagram and the WVU Safety and Wellness Facebook will also share updates.

Decisions regarding WVU Institute of Technology and WVU Potomac State College are made separately based on local conditions. WVU Extension will follow its internal inclement weather policy.

A WVU Alert is part of the three-tiered WVU Safety Notification System.
