Winners announced for the 2026 Excellence in Community Engagement Awards

The Center for Community Engagement’s annual Excellence in Community Engagement Awards honor extraordinary accomplishments in engaged learning and community impact. The recognition criteria are founded upon demonstration of the Mountaineer Core Values of Service, Curiosity, Respect, Accountability, and Appreciation. The 2026 winners are:
- Athletic Service Award- WVU Women’s Rowing Team
- National Service Award- Phoebe Durst
- Outstanding Staff Award- Sabrina Cave
- Outstanding Faculty Award- Michael Withrow
- Undergraduate Student Award-Lexus Middleton
- Graduate Student Award- Kushal Naharki
- Student Group Award- Alpha Omega Epsilon
- Outstanding Community Partner Award- Monongalia County Child Advocacy Center
- Outstanding Campus Partner Award- WVU Student Recreation Aquatics Department
- Engaged Research Scholar Award- Dr. Nicolas Zegre
- Service-Learning Instruction Award- Michael Withrow
- Cole Unger Social Action Award- Leah Peck
