Undergraduate GEF and Honors course for Fall 2026: Introduction to Public and Community Health (PUBH 101)

Want to understand the real-world issues shaping health, equity, and communities—and earn GEF credit while you’re at it? PUBH 101: Introduction to Public and Community Health is a 3-credit course available to undergraduate students interested in learning more about public and community health.

During the course, students will learn about the history, core functions, disciplines, and essential services of public health as well as engage in discussions about current public health events and issues. Course assignments will include guest speaker reflection writing exercises, reaction papers, a public health photo journal, and a current public health issue campaign.

This course:

• Meets the General Education Foundations Area 4 (GEF 4) requirement
• Includes an Honors section
• Meets a course requirement for the Public Health minor
