Spring 2026 Student Health Insurance Waiver now available through Dec. 19

New for the 2025-26 academic year, the Student Insurance Office and WVU have partnered with Academic HealthPlans (AHP) to administer the WVU Aetna student health insurance plan (SHIP), and the opt-out waiver process through AHP’s Care26 platform.

The Spring 2026 Student Health Insurance Waiver is now available at wvu.myahpcare.com and must be completed by Friday, Dec. 19, 2025. Eligible students who do not have an approved waiver on file will be automatically enrolled in the WVU Aetna Student Health insurance plan at a cost of $1,854 assessed to the student’s accountfor the spring semester.

Note: Students cannot complete the waiver until they are registered for classes for the spring semester (6 credit hours for domestic students and 1 credit hour for international students).

Students who have an approved fall 2025 waiver on file have already opted out of SHIP coverage for the entire 2025-26 academic year and do not need to submit a spring waiver.
