Parking Management designates additional short-term parking during ST-6 temporary closure

April 6, 2026

Map of WVU Evansdale Campus highlighting Area 40 parking lot near the National Research Center for Coal & Energy. A section of the lot is outlined in red and labeled “Short-Term 6,” with a red arrow indicating a temporary entry point on the right side.

To provide additional parking during the temporary closure of lot ST-6 (Water Tower), the WVU Parking Management team will make about 50 parking spots in Area 40 available for short-term parking, effective Tuesday (April 7).

Area 40 is a permit lot on the Evansdale area of campus, located near the National Research Center for Coal and Energy (NRCCE) building. A portion of the lower half of Area 40 will be blocked off and designated as a temporary short-term parking lot.

Drivers should pay for their short-term parking like normal. Pay stations are not available in this lot, so all payments must be made via ParkMobile (zone #5212).

We anticipate that these temporary short-term spaces will remain available until ST-6 reopens.

Permit holders for Area 40 should continue to park in the remaining portion of the lot. While not anticipated, should a parking spot be unavailable for an Area 40 permit holder, please call the Parking Management Office at 304-293-5502 for assistance.
