Mountain Artist in Residence Talk: Remain
April 6, 2026
In honor of National Poetry Month and Earth Week, WVU Libraries’ 2026 Mountain Artist in Resident L. Renée will display the results of her residency and speak at a public program to be held in the Milano Reading Room of the Downtown Library at 4 p.m. on April 23.
Her forthcoming interdisciplinary poetry and performance residency project “Remain” will draw on archival records of mountaintop removal mining to ask a haunting and urgent question: After a mountain is stripped, blasted, displaced, and “reclaimed,” what truly remains?
Event attendees will have the opportunity to learn about Renée’s creative process, listen to the poems, watch a short documentation film, and see the display of the works.
