Interested in learning about infectious diseases and how they are transmitted?

The School of Public Health is offering a new undergraduate-level course in the fall 2026 semester for any students interested in learning about infectious diseases and the role of public health in disease transmission and control.
PUBH 428: Infectious Disease Epidemiology is a 3-credit course offered in person in the fall 2026 semester at the WVU Health Sciences Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 - 2:20 p.m. During the course, students will gain an overview of infectious diseases, their context, transmission and control.
Learning objectives for the course are:
1. Demonstrate basic understanding of disease emergence.
2. Appraise the role of epidemiology as it relates to infectious diseases.
3. Distinguish between predominant modes of transmission and types of diseases.
4. Evaluate the mechanisms of disease control and eradication.
