Campus reminded of Facilities Management work order request process and emergency repairs
January 22, 2026
As we begin another exciting semester and come back to our residence halls, offices, labs and other spaces across WVU, the Facilities Management team reminds our campus community about the processes used for routine maintenance and repair requests for our various buildings and facilities.
For residence halls, University Apartments, and the Health Sciences Campus, requests should be submitted through an online work order request portal called the Facilities Service Desk.
For academic buildings on the Downtown and Evansdale areas of campus, requests should be submitted through building supervisors. A list of all building supervisors can be found online.
If you need to make a work order request but do not have access to the WVU Portal, you can fill out the WVU Facilities Service Request form.
Those who encounter emergency maintenance requests on any area of campus should immediately contact the 24/7 Emergency Help Line at 304-293-HELP (304-293-4357). Emergency maintenance requests are classified as facility needs that pose an imminent threat to life, property or security, including:
• Loss of electrical power to a building, floor or room
• Electrical breakers tripped
• Water leaks or flooding
• Clogged toilet or urinal
• Clogged sink or drain line
• Students locked out of a residence hall room
• Fire alarm
• HVAC not functioning
• Loss of domestic water
• Loss of chilled water
• Loss of hot water
• Steam leaks
• Vandalism
• Broken elevator down or entrapment
• Doors unlocked or not working correctly
• Any animal quarters calls
• Smoke or abnormal smells in a facility
• Abnormal equipment noises (i.e., belts squealing, bearings grinding, pipes banging, etc.)
• Issues that jeopardize research
• Loss of heat
• Freezer not functioning or refrigerator not cool enough (Note: this does not include personal refrigerators.)
• Broken windows
The Facilities Management team thanks you for your cooperation and assistance in submitting work orders.
