November 6, 2025
The WVU Center for Resilient Communitiesbased in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences announces it’s annual award program to support graduate student researchers and advanced undergraduate students in any discipline at West Virginia University who are committed to advancing participatory research and publicly engaged scholarship. The WVU Center for Resilient Communities advances community engaged research and education programs to generate knowledge and raise up human resources for more just, equitable and vibrant communities in West Virginia, the greater Appalachian region, and the world. Our aim is to foster a positive spirit, support collective inquiry, elevate new grassroots leadership, and to encourage people to look to themselves, rather than outside experts to promote community well-being in our region.
The Community Engaged Research Fund provides scholarly enrichment awards up to $1000 to support fieldwork, planning, travel, outreach, materials expenses, and other costs associated with advancing a community engaged research project. If awarded funding, recipient will join a community engaged research cohort that will meet throughout the spring semester. We require recipients to participant in educational activities such as research symposium, leadership training, and research reflection. We encourage applications from scholars of color, women, and other under-represented groups in higher education.
Applicants must submit a well crafted research proposal, personal statement and budget brief by Friday December 5 @ 5:00pm. Elements required for the 2-3 page PDF package are included in the application form.
